White Box
Synopsis
A young medical researcher wakes from a disturbing nightmare and sets out for another routine day at work. She prepares for an experiment on a white box, but when she cuts into it, she finds a strange creature pulsing inside. As the creature stares back at her, the researcher is forced to confront the violence behind her work and the relationship between herself and her test subjects.

Hazel Wang is a 28-year-old animator from Guangzhou, China. After earning a degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, she moved to the United States to study animation. Her work grows out of personal memory and slowly opens into reflections on life and responsibility.
Cam Duska is a 23-year-old writer, animator, and director from a small town in Rhode Island. They began their education in Philadelphia before moving to Southern California to pursue their dream of animating professionally. They tell stories that aim to expose marginalized experiences and complex emotions.
Hazel and Cam are both currently juniors at Otis College of Art and Design. White Box is both of their directorial debuts, both individually and as a filmmaking duo, but they look forward to collaborating in the future. Read less
