Jess and Adam run Beyond The Map, a failing "urbex" YouTube channel. After years of mounting debt, poor viewership and dead-end locations, their dedication has soured to desperation. Jess has even interviewed for a stable editing job, lacking the heart to tell Adam she’s had enough.

After a tip-off from a new subscriber, Adam convinces Jess to investigate a sprawling, abandoned facility set deep in the woods in Northern England. While Adam scouts the perimeter of the compound with his drone, an argument breaks out and Jess lets her plans slip. Distracted Adam crashes the drone on top of the building and, driven by the need to save their expensive uninsured equipment, Adam rushes inside to retrieve it. Jess has no choice but to follow.

They reconcile inside the crumbling walls of the building, falling back to the familiar rhythm of humour masking old frustrations. The location is everything they hoped for; but as its true nature seeps into the light, the atmosphere closes in. Corridors begin to stretch into unnatural darkness, and Jess’s instinct to leave becomes an obsession.

They discover the building was a Morbex Institute testing facility, the site of sinister human experimentation until a catastrophic failure in the 1970s. When Adam cuts his hand and a strange black liquid infects the wound, the situation spirals. Night falls in minutes, the building "awakens" and the exits vanish.

As Adam’s paranoia consumes him, Jess is driven underground, forced to choose beyond saving the friend she was ready to leave or surviving the night alone.
